Travis Orbin - Second Cyclamen Session - "The Seeker"

Travis Orbin - Second Cyclamen Session - "The Seeker" Video Clips. Duration : 2.47 Mins.

www.facebook.com Next up is "The Seeker," a swift tune with a big hardcore-punk influence. The drum set intro is pretty wacky; polyrhythms, double bass, fast fusion-esque licks and the kitchen sink are all pretty much present (this was Hayato's request, hehe). The chorus/B section possesses a challenging sticking pattern. In Hayato's original composition, the tom-tom pattern ensued even on the downbeat along with the crash cymbal. I told him that this was possible if I utilized double strokes. I used this as a basis and then composed a tom melody that also incorporated dual hi-hat chokes and crash cymbal tradeoffs. It's punctuated intermittently by fill-ins. The pattern took a lot out of my hands; much force is necessary to get those loosely-tuned toms to sing with double strokes! My grip muscles would occasionally cramp up, heh. The bridge/C section is real intense and syncopated. There's an eighth-note quintuplet occurring around 1:32 that will sound interesting when layered against the vocals. Speaking of (for all of those who are inquiring), Hayato does plan on re-recording all of the instruments on top of my drum tracks for an official release. The outro features some preposterously fast fill-ins: a 16th-note septuplet and 32nd notes. I wanted it to make it as intense as possible and that's what came out of me.
